Troop 948 is based in Pleasanton, California. We are part of the Twin Valley District in the San Francisco Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
We are chartered by GraceWay Church.
If you are thinking about joining the Boy Scouts,Troop 948 may be just the place for you! See the Calendar page for lists of activities. We also have a flyer for Webelos. This flyer describes some fun activities you can join us in, to learn more about the troop and satisfy one of your Arrow of Light requirements.
- Beliefs and Expectations
- We do not push the Scouts to reach a certain rank. We want them to enjoy the journey of scouting and learning some life skills along the way. They go at their own pace and the adult leaders are here to help them achieve their goals.
- Our Troop is very active and has many different activities. The older Scouts can go on high adventure trips such as Philmont (10 days of hiking and camping), Northern Tier (kayaking), and Sea Base (sailing).
- We are involved in serving our community. We do community service, especially around the holiday season.
- We would like our parents to be involved and volunteer to help keep our Troop strong and successful.
Troop Meetings
Troop 948 meets Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm during the school year.
The meetings are held in either the multi-purpose room (MPR) or classrooms at Harvest Park Middle School at 4900 Valley Ave. (see map). We usually park in the west lot, which is off Northway Rd. In addition, the PLC (Patrol Leader's Council--the Scout leaders) meet one Sunday evening per month.
Fund raisers
Our troop raises funds for its scouts through various activities, including Christmas wreath sales and See's spring candy sales. Part of the money that each scout raises goes toward general troop expenses (e.g., campsite fees, awards, equipment) and another part goes into an account to offset his individual scout expenses (e.g., activity fees, scout-related equipment, summer camp fees). The fund-raising committee is always looking for volunteers and new ideas. If you are interested in participating, please contact a member of the committee.
The date on the above certificate is June 4th 1986. SFBAC = San Francisco bay Area Council, later absorbed into the Golden Gate Area Council.
